Gastric Ulcer with Cytomegalovirus Gastritis and Dieulafoy Lesion in an Immunocompetent Patient

چکیده
Cytomegalovirus infection is a common pathogen which rarely cause symptomatic disease in an immunocompetent patient. We present an immocompetent 55 year old male with complaints of pain abdomen and loss of appetite. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and radiologic features were suggestive of malignancy and partial gastrectomy was performed. Histopathologic findings were diagnostic of cytomegalovirus infection. Incidentally, submucosa of the stomach showed Dieulafoy lesion. This case suggests that gastric ulcer with cytomegalovirus gastritis can mimic malignancy radiologically and on endoscopic evaluation.

Ménétrier's disease and severe gastric ulcers associated with cytomegalovirus infection in an immunocompetent child: a case report.
In pediatric patients, Ménétrier's disease is an uncommon clinical entity that has been rarely described only as sporadic cases, and the etiology is unclear. These patients usually have a self-limiting clinical course. Cytomegalovirus is an important pathogen in the immunocompromised host. However, cytomegalovirus infection can be detected in non-immunocompromised children. We discuss the possi...

A case of gastric outlet obstruction accompanied by diffuse gastritis and gastric ulcer due to cytomegalovirus infection is presented. The patient, a woman aged 67 years with a long history of rheumatoid arthritis under immunosuppressive treatment (methotrexate), was admitted to our department complaining mostly of abdominal pain located in the epigastrium and the right abdomen. Upper gastroint...
متن کاملGastric Ulcer Associated with Cytomegalovirus in an Immunocompetent Patient: Method for Diagnosis
Cytomegalovirus (CMV)-associated gastric ulcers can be found not only in immunocompromised hosts but also in normal individuals. The accurate endoscopic diagnosis of CMV ulcers is not easy because of the absence of characteristic morphological features. We present a case of CMV-associated gastric ulcer in an immunocompetent patient. He was a 33-year-old male with epigastralgia. Upper gastrointe...
متن کاملA case report of cytomegalovirus associated gastritis
The infection caused by cytomegalovirus (CMV) is diverse and depends greatly on the host. It is a common infection in immunocompetent hosts but is generally asymptomatic, or may present with a mononucleosis-like syndrome of fever, lymphadenopathy and pharyngitis. The prevalence of CMV infection ranges from 40 to 100% of the adult population (1). An uncommon manifestation of CMV is organ specifi...
متن کاملDieulafoy's disease: endoscopic treatment and follow up.
The findings from 480 patients who had emergency endoscopy for acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding of non-variceal origin at our institution were analysed. Twenty eight patients (5.8%) had a Dieulafoy lesion. In 27 patients (96.4%) bleeding could be successfully managed by injection of norepinephrine and polidocanol, in repeated sessions if needed. Two patients had to be treated surgically: o...
